Ch. Connaught Inspiration of
Overlook, a Platinum Mink
Tonkinese known as Burke
(aka Mr Berkowitz). He was
a CFA and CFF champion. He
finished his kitten show
career with a spectacular
Best in Short Hair Division
over top competition and
retired to live with Natalie's
cousin Arnie Brown, as a
spoiled rotten house cat.
Ch. Overlook Sherman, a Flame Point
Himalayan bred by Natalie. He was a CFA and
CFF champion and an all around great cat. I
could have never asked for a better pet and
house cat. Raised with dogs, Sherman thought
he was a dog, too!
There have been a lot of cats over the years, usually several at a time. Some of them arrived as
strays and stayed. Others were purebred Siamese, Tonkinese, Himalayans and Persians that were
show cats. A few of them came from rescue groups and shelters. All of them led the life of Riley!

Himalayan, Buttercup a

Abbey, a Bluecream point
Himalayan. Cam-Cam was
the sire of Sherman -
Champion Flame point
Himalayan and his litter
sister, Liza, a solid black
Himalayan.

Buttercup and Abbey were
pals and were nearly
always found together.

of Sherman and Liza.
Kira, in the photo above left, was a stray Seal point Siamese that showed up one day. It was obvious
that she was nursing kittens, but she was extremely evasive, and we never discovered where she had
them hidden. She came to be fed every day, then ran back into the woods (6 acres of woods!), but if
followed, she would just stop and go no further. We figured she would eventually bring the kittens
to be fed...and she did.

We set up a dog exercise pen, with a cover over the top and put her food dish in the pen. She
promptly went inside to eat, the five kittens followed, and we closed the door. We thought we had
them all, and our veterinarian took the kittens to place in homes. A few days later, our neighbor told
us she had heard a kitten crying in the woods for the past few nights, so we set up a HavaHart trap
with cat food. The next morning, the trap was sprung, and in looking out from the upstairs window,
we thought we had caught a possum. We went out to release the possum, and there he was - a small
red tabby kitten, that we promptly named Possum!

Possum is in the photo above on the right, meeting one of his new housemates. He and his mother,
Kira, joined the pack permanently.
Tessie, a Tortoiseshell domestic short hair arrived as a stray kitten. She and her
mother and sister were found scavenging around a neighborhood dumpster. All three
were beautiful cats, and the others were easily placed. Tessie stayed!
Tessie eventually decided the boys weren't
so bad after all. Tessie, Willie and Thomas
all became buddies. Above, Tessie and
Willie share a bed.
Thomas and Willie were adopted from
the Connecticut Humane Society in
1993. They look like brothers, though
they are not related. Here they are on
their first day home, completely
exhausted after chasing Tessie around
the house all day! Tessie, who was
several years older, was not amused.

Emily is the only cat we have added since living
in Florida. She was adopted through a local
rescue group and is now our only cat.
We built an outside cattery pen for the
cats to enjoy the nice weather safely
outdoors in Connecticut. Kira is seen
sitting on the roof of the outside dog
house. A cat door allowed them to go into
the shed. The shed had the food and water
dishes, litter pans and a variety of places
to sleep out of the rain or heat or cold.

Kira, Possum, Willie and Thomas loved
being out, and did not want to come in
again until it got really cold. In Florida,
Willie and Thomas wanted to stay
outdoors in the screen room all year round,
coming inside only for the very coldest
nights...or hurricanes! They both passed
away in 2008
at 15 years of age, within a
few months of each other.
